Please find the attached strength and conditioning program for the SAMOHI Soccer team in preparation of the 2008-2009 season. Building on the success of last season, SAMOHI Soccer looks to repeat as CIF Champions in 2009.

In addition to our excellent technical coaching staff we have utilized scientific strength and conditioning programs for the last six years with great success. The period of puberty offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to mold the human body more profoundly than any other time. We take this responsibility to guide them very serious and offer an ethical, safe, and effective year round training program. The program has built in injury prevention and prevents plateaus and burnout, peaking our athletes for when it counts most: the CIF Tournament in February 2009.

This program has been honed over 28 years working with young athletes and has been in use by the wrestling team for six years helping SAMOHI athletes qualify for the State meet each of these years, as well as this past season where SAMOHI took home the State Championship. The Joy of Victory for the Samohi Soccer warriors - Champions 2007 South Tournament

Many high schools have soccer teams but Samohi has a strong soccer program. At Santa Monica High, there are a total of 60 women and 60 men playing on a total of six teams. Throughout the storied history of Samohi Soccer, thirty-five years for the men (league championships in 1988, 1992, 1993, 1999, 2000, 2004, and 2005) and twenty-five years for the women (league championships in 1999, 2004, 2005, and 2006), the teams have evolved into a structured and coherent program. Based on college and professional sports programs, the unification of the teams has made Samohi Soccer a stronger, better skilled, and competitive organization. This has happened due in part to the dedicated staff that have given their time and passion to the student/athletes and to the game.

By combining the teams, all players are encouraged to raise their level of play, develop a partnerships among themselves, and value the significance of representing our school and community. The participation of committed coaches, parents, local businesses, and Samohi staff has been an important piece to make this achievable. The support the bond among all the engaged groups makes for a winning program. Now a dynamic unit, the teams are winning in league, competing well in tournaments, ranked in the Top 10 of Division III (Women) and IV (Men), earning All C.I.F. and All League Honors, receiving Athlete of the Year for Samohi, and having players graduate and go on to college. Without hesitation it can be said that Samohi Soccer has become a power on the Westside.

Samohi Men's Soccer Results 2004 thru 2007:

Santa Monica Women play in CIF Division III in the Ocean League. Samohi Men play in CIF Division IV in the Ocean League. Samohi plays each Ocean League team twice.
