Girls Soccer 3/8 - 3/12

Girls will remain on campus and be training with Coach Chapman.  We will be starting ball work this week. Please bring cleats and running shoes all week.  Approximate dismissal time is 3:45pm.

Just a reminder that the end-of-season soccer banquet is Wednesday, March 10 in the Samohi Cafeteria from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  This is a special occasion to celebrate the accomplishments of our players so the players are asked to wear nice clothes.  The recommended attire for boys is nice pants, collared shirt, and a tie.   A sport coat or suit may be worn if the player so desires.  For girls, appropriate nice clothes should be worn (i.e. no jeans, shorts or t-shirts).

If you have yet to do so, please let me know by Saturday, 3/6, how many people from your family will be attending the banquet.  We want to ensure that we have enough food for everyone.  There is no cost for the player and a $15 fee for each family member or friend who attends.  You can pay when you arrive at the event.

Girls Soccer March 1st - 5th

The girls program will be staying on campus this week and working with Coach Chapman.  Please bring workout clothes and running shoes (no cleats).  We will not we working with the ball but rather concentrating on conditioning and strength training.

Samohi Soccer Banquet

The season is over and now it is time for the end-of-season banquet.

The soccer banquet will be held Wednesday, March 10 in the Samohi cafeteria from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Dinner will be provided by Rosti Tuscan Kitchen.  There is no cost for the players and a $15 charge for any family member or friend to attend.

It is important for you to let us know if you will be attending so we can order the right amount of food.  Please respond by Friday, March 5.  You can email me or if you wish to pay ahead of time you can send the attached flyer with payment to me or give to Coach Chapman. Checks should be made payable to Samohi Soccer.

We also will need some volunteers to help with check-in, serving food, set-up and clean-up.  Please let me know if you are able to help us.

SOCCER UPDATE FOR MON. FEB 22ND - FRI. FEB 26

Girls Varsity and ALL LOWER LEVELS (boys and girls) will continue to meet on the track stands 6th period.  Roll will be taken by Coach Chapman.  Uniforms must be turned in (clean, in a bag, and labeled) before any player will be allowed to switch into another sport or drop (only seniors).  Students failing to do so will be put on the obligations list.

Boys Varsity will play this Tueday, Feb.23rd at Los Altos H.S. at 3pm.  Please make the trip and support them!

Please come out and bring your friends to support our Varsity soccer teams.  The boys will play South Torrance tomorrow (2/18) at 5:00 p.m. on the Santa Monica College stadium field.  On Friday, 2/19, the girls will play San Luis Obispo at 3:45 p.m. at JAMS.

Also, we have a few black Samo Soccer sweatshirts available for purchase.  They are $20.  Please let me or Serafin know if you would like one.

CIF playoffs start this week for the Boys and Girls Varsity teams.  Boys Varsity will play the winner of Tuesday's wild card game #H (South Torrance & Mayfair) at JAMS on Thursday, 2/18.  The Girls Varsity will play San Luis Obispo at JAMS on Friday, 2/19.  Game times still to be determined.  The full CIF playoff schedules can be found at www.cifss.org.  The girls are in Divison 3 playoffs and the boys are in Division 4 playoffs.  Please come out and support our varsity teams!

Schedule for Boys and Girls Lower Level teams (JV - F/S) Tues 2/16 - Fri 2/19

All lower level teams will remain on campus and report to the stands on the track field 6th period.  Roll will be taken by a coach and students will be dismissed at 3:16pm.  At no time will students be allowed to leave the track area for any reason unless given prior permission.  Students are to bring school work to keep busy. 
Practice will resume once the boys and girls varsity teams have completed their respective playoff runs.

Boys Varsity and JV Games, Thursday Feb 11

Both Boys Varsity and JV teams will play their last regular season game today at JAMS, 3:45 pm.

Come cheer for Samohi’s Soccer Seniors, class of 2010 as they play in the last regular season home game of
their high school career. With your support, they will put on a great performance! Go Michael, Jainesh, Raul, Matthew, Jesus, Alonzo, Victor, Reuben, and Zach!

This Friday, February 12, White's Studios will be taking team pictures of all the boys and girls soccer teams during 6th period.  These team pictures will be in the yearbook. Individual player photos will be taken for those players requesting them.  Order forms were sent home with the girls on Monday and the boys will receive them today.  You may order a team photo or individual photos.  Players should wear their blue uniforms for the team pictures.

Also, after the team pictures are taken, the coaches will be collecting the blue and white jerseys from the boys and girls frosh/soph and JV players.  Please turn in both jerseys in a Ziploc bag with the player's name and number on it.
